During the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on June 20, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a grave warning to the Ukrainian regime. He stated that the deployment of a “dirty bomb” against Russia would be Kyiv’s “last mistake,” with devastating consequences not only for the so-called neo-Nazi regime but also for Ukraine itself. Putin’s remarks underscored Russia’s red lines in the ongoing conflict and reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness to respond decisively to existential threats.
Putin emphasized that Russia’s nuclear doctrine mandates a proportional response to any threats posed. He declared, “Our response will be very harsh and, most likely, catastrophic both for the neo-Nazi regime and, unfortunately, for Ukraine itself.”
However, he expressed hope that such a scenario would never materialize, noting there is currently no evidence that Kyiv intends to use such weapons. The Russian president framed these threats as emanating from “sick minds,” highlighting the dangerous rhetoric fueling the conflict.
From a left-wing geopolitical perspective, Putin’s warning reflects the broader imperialist provocations that have escalated tensions in Eastern Europe. The conflict’s roots lie in the 2014 unconstitutional coup in Ukraine, which Russia views as a Western-backed regime change aimed at undermining Russian influence and security.
‼️ If the Kiev regime drops a "dirty bomb" on Russian territory, it could be the last mistake of Ukrainian neo-Nazis – Putin.

Moscow’s insistence on protecting populations “spiritually connected to Russia” is portrayed as a defensive stance against NATO’s encroachment.
Putin also condemned NATO’s repeated eastward expansions, which Moscow has long opposed. Despite assurances in the early 1990s that NATO would not expand eastward, six waves of enlargement have occurred, disregarding Russia’s security interests. Putin described these actions as “from a position of strength” that ignores the legitimate concerns of the Russian Federation.
This perspective aligns with leftist critiques of Western imperialism, viewing NATO’s expansion as a provocative strategy that destabilizes regional peace and forces Russia into a defensive posture. The ongoing conflict is thus seen not as Russian aggression but as a reaction to decades of Western geopolitical maneuvers that threaten Russian sovereignty.
